The Original ROAR!

What is a ROAR!?

What is a ROAR!?

ROAR! came to me on May 23rd at 1:00am, part my own story, part Mother Earth’s. I had been heartsick over the oil spill in the Gulf. It seemed to me that our Mother was hemorrhaging and NO ONE was doing ANYTHING to help her. It made me sick, gave me nightmares, and, most importantly, woke me up to the atrocities that our culture has done to not only nature, but to women themselves. I felt helpless, vulnerable, scared and weak because there was nothing I felt I could do to help Her. As this frustration built, a rumble began to stir within me. I yelled ENOUGH!, trying to stop the rumble. But then I realized that it was not to be stopped. The ENOUGH! was to be yelled not...

No Longer Puzzled by the Lion’s Roar

No Longer Puzzled by the Lion’s Roar

It was spring of 1997 on the beautiful Orcas Island of Washington state that I first heard the voice of Mother Earth. Depleted from a 2 year journey of 24-7 care to assist the recovery of my youngest daughter from a head on collision,  I so needed to be held by nature to rest. Sitting on a grassy knoll overlooking the water, I heard Mother’s voice, warm, gentle, and oh so powerful. “I greet you, my little one. We are here for you. I am calling my daughters. I sit within a circle of women, the Golden Dragons who have held truth for women. We are ready to run with the wolves and roar like the lions.  You are magnificent, you are needed.” I understood the “run with wolves...

From Intuition – to Whisper – to Conversation – to ROAR!… to Change

From Intuition – to Whisper – to Conversation – to ROAR!… to Change

Does the concept of change mean different things to women than to men? We all experience it, even when it seems like nothing is really happening or when things are happening too fast or even not fast enough. In the moment of being, change is happening. Cinda Stevens Lonsway got punctuated with this knowledge via her intuition one quiet night. She woke, turned on a lamp and started writing about it—in whispers. The essay became a conversation. The conversations rose to the level of a collective ROAR!  And the ROAR! is...

Wild Sister Magazine’s First Birthday

Wild Sister Magazine’s First Birthday

Welcome to Wild Sister Issue 13! I have had the honor of writing for Wild Sister since its conception one year ago and I have loved, loved, loved every minute of it. I first met editor, Jen Saunders through her blog My Smiling Heart She had shared ROAR! on it, and had contacted me to say it was attracting a lot of attention.  She was living in China, of all places, at the time and started Wild Sister while she was living there. She then moved back to home country of Australia, taking Wild Sisters with her. In this issue of Wild Sister, the theme is Making Dreams Come True. I was way busy with my oldest, Eric, graduating from high school and all the volunteer work that...

WTH? How did I get here?

My story reads like science fiction or is it a fairy tale, without the Grimm’s drama and darkness, but where the fairy godmother waves her magic wand and grants all my wishes true.  So far it has been without any serious consequences, or are there?…..  ….. It is too soon to tell, it has just begun, this story of mine.  So as I blow a bit of fairy dust, or is it star dust, off my shoulders, let me catch you up on my story as of yet…. ~ I am inspired to write ROAR! on Saturday, May 21, 2010 at 1:00am ~ An author/friend, Jack Armstrong, tells me I need to share ROAR! on Facebook.  I do on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 5:29pm ~ ROAR! goes viral/international in a few weeks...
